Job summary

The City of New York’s Bureau of Wastewater Treatment seeks a Network Support Specialist to plan, support, and maintain local and wide-area network infrastructure across five boroughs’ facilities. You will install, configure, and support networking hardware, coordinate upgrades, and ensure accurate documentation while collaborating with BIT and contractors.

Required qualifications include a baccalaureate degree in CS or engineering and 4+ years of related IT automation/infrastructure experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or a related field.
• Four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to IT automation engineering, monitoring engineering, or infrastructure management.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and support networking hardware including switches, routers, and wireless infrastructure.
• Assist in network modernization projects such as hardware upgrades and cabling relocations.
• Troubleshoot LAN and WAN connectivity issues at field locations and provide responsive support.
• Coordinate site deployments with BIT, vendors and contractors.
• Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and inventories.
• Provide secondary support for telecommunications systems (cellular boosters, fire alarm lines, dedicated data circuits).
• Ensure compliance with DEP's EEO and EHS standards and promote a safe, inclusive work environment.
