Job summary

AMAX is seeking an on-site Network Engineer to design, build, and operate our on-prem network infrastructure powering a cloud-like environment. You will own VLAN design, routing, firewall policy, and load balancer configuration across the datacenter, and collaborate with Infra/DevSecOps on tooling and automation.

Responsibilities include monitoring with Prometheus/Grafana, troubleshooting network issues, and providing hands-on data center support for colocated customers.

Qualifications

• Solid working knowledge of VLANs, routing, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Experience with configuration-as-code for infrastructure (Ansible).
• On-prem/datacenter network operations experience.
• Proficiency with Git and standard version control workflows.
• Comfort with hands-on datacenter work and hardware tasks.
• Colocation/datacenter smart-hands experience is a plus.
• Experience with Terraform/Terragrunt is desirable.
• Familiarity with monitoring stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager).
• HashiCorp tooling (Vault/Boundary) and IAM tools like Keycloak are a plus.
• Networking certifications (CCNA) or equivalent coursework.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate on-prem network infrastructure for a cloud-like environment.
• Own VLAN design, routing, firewall policy, and load balancer config.
• Manage network segmentation for security and compliance needs.
• Create and maintain configuration-as-code for network devices.
• Collaborate with infra/DevSecOps teams on tooling and automation.
• Monitor network health with Prometheus, Grafana, and Alertmanager.
• Troubleshoot routing, switching, firewalls, and load balancing issues.
• Provide datacenter support for colocated customers (cabling, swaps, racks).
• Participate in on-call rotation during business hours.
• Follow SDLC/Scrum with Jira/Confluence for planning and docs.
• Develop network standards, runbooks, and best practices as topology grows.
• Increase ownership of network architecture over time.
