Job summary

First Citizens Bank is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to provide advanced technical support for the bank's data and voice network infrastructure. The role involves installing, maintaining, and configuring network hardware and software, as well as troubleshooting issues reported by users and system alerts.

You will manage IP address management, DNS, and connectivity with banks’ communication applications, while contributing to capacity planning, upgrades, and automation initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with 4+ years networking experience or 8+ years with HS diploma
  • CCNP, VOIP or CTP- IO certifications preferred

Drives operational excellence and network efficiency, providing continuous service both through daily activities and through on-call rotation for after hours support.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Duties & Responsibilities:



Technical Support - Provides advanced technical support for data or voice network systems. Maintains devices, servers, and other related network components including IP address management, Domain Name Services, Bank communication applications, and others. Works with end users and vendors to resolve identified hardware and software issues. Responsible for administration, communication, and documentation throughout technical support activities. Maintains network hardware and software standards utilized across the team.



Analysis - Monitors and audits network to determine performance. Reviews system-generated events to identify, analyze, and resolve issues. Assists in threat mitigation and network security activities by researching code for security vulnerabilities.



Network Enhancement - Works to continuously improve network capacity, operations, and infrastructure. Configures and installs new hardware and software as needed. Facilitates automation efforts that improve overall network capabilities.



Technical Proficiency - Maintains a strong knowledge base of network software, hardware, and related infrastructure. Communicates effective and clear technical information to associates, vendors, and end users. May assist with special technical projects.



Position Specific Skills

Knowledge of WAN, VPN, and converged services


Knowledge of networking technologies and networking protocols (TCP/IP, IPT, VOIP, etc.), Cisco and Cabletron hubs and routers, ACDs, IVRs, ECS, security protocols, Token Ring, Ethernet, FIDDI, FastEthernet, etc.


Possess excellent technical skills regarding network routing, switching and provisioning



Qualifications

Minimum Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree and 4 years' experience OR High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent and 8 years' experience in Data, voice or converged networking

Preferred Experience and Skills

(At least one of the following)



  • Experience designing and deploying Enterprise Cisco Viptela SD-WAN.

  • Expert knowledge of Cisco ACI fabric architecture, Leaf-Spine networking, policy design, multi-site, contracts, and operational support.

  • Experience with Cloud Connectivity and Cloud Networking including AWS and Azure.

  • Experience with Automation and Programmability including interacting with REST APIs and Github repositories.



Preferred Certifications

(At least one of the following)



  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure).

  • Cisco Certified DevNet Professional or equivalent automation experience.

  • AWS Advanced Networking Specialty, Azure Network Engineer Associate, or equivalent cloud certification.



Principle Accountabilities

60% - Design, consulting and project support.


20% - Vision, roadmaps and strategy.


10% - Implementation, testing and build out.


10% - Tier 4 support escalation including on-call.
