D.R. Horton, Inc. is seeking a Network Engineer III to install and maintain network systems, configure devices, and troubleshoot issues across our enterprise.

This role requires hands-on work with routers, switches, VPNs, firewalls, and related security controls, with on-site presence at our Arlington, TX operations. The ideal candidate has 4–7 years of experience, a high school diploma (GED) or higher, proficiency with Cisco IOS/NX-OS, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 4–7 years of related work experience.
• Must have a vehicle and a valid driver’s license.
• Advanced understanding of network services and protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, HSRP, VRRP, VRF, VTP, DHCP, DNS).
• Advanced understanding of networking systems such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Cisco IOS/NX-OS experience.
• Strong OSI model troubleshooting knowledge.
• Excellent communication with management and non-technical staff.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and monitor networks: routers, switches, VPNs, and security devices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues; communicate status to stakeholders.
• Install, configure, and upgrade network hardware and software.
• Create firewall rules; update security systems.
• Lead and review work of team members; on-site project support.
• Design/implement new network solutions and improve existing networks.
• Report network status to key stakeholders; participate in on-call rotation.

D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Network Engineer III. The right candidate will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of network systems communications. Configures various network devices and services. Troubleshoots the network issues within established guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Maintain computer networks including routers, switches, VPNs and other physical hardware/software
• Monitor systems to improve network performance for all systems
• Troubleshoot, resolve, and communicate networking issues to other employees and management
• Research, install, configure and upgrade network hardware and software
• Create firewall rules and update software and data security systems to keep data and communications protected
• Improve knowledge and understanding of network and security best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to company systems
• Coach and review the work of team members
• Provide on-site support for projects that require on-site installation and support
• Design and implement new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks
• Arrange scheduled upgrades
• Investigate faults in the network
• Update network equipment to the latest firmware releases
• Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
• Report network status to key stakeholders
• Improve knowledge and understanding of network and security best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to company systems
• Participate in on-call rotation
• Ability to travel overnight

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Four to seven years of related work experience
• Must have a vehicle and a valid driver’s license
• Advanced understanding of network services and networks protocols (to include but not limited to): BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, HSRP, VRRP, VRF, VTP, DHCP, DNS
• Advanced understanding and practical knowledge of networking systems such as routers and switches and firewalls
• Working knowledge with Cisco IOS and Nexus NX-OS
• Advanced understanding of OSI model and troubleshooting of technology related issues
• Able to work well in a fast-paced environment and be comfortable in stressful situations
• Effectively communicate with management and non-technical personnel on any technology issue to ensure they understand the nature of the issue and current statue easily understood on any outage conference calls
• Detail oriented self-motivated goal driven
• Ability to analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently
• Ability to implement and troubleshoot network and security infrastructure
• Experience managing large projects/processes working independently
• Knowledge of Windows operating systems
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to execute excellent customer service relationship skills
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
• Proficiency with MS Office and email
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field from a four-year college or university preferred
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) preferred
• Working knowledge regarding Cisco Firewalls preferred
• Experience working in the F5 Load Balancer preferred
• Experience working in SDWAN preferred
• Working knowledge in ACI preferred
