Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Network Engineer II to assure stability and integrity of Health System data communication, including LANs, WANs, voice, video and wireless services. You will design, implement, and support the network across multiple sites, with duties spanning installation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Information Systems or related field; four years of related experience preferred.
• Proven LAN, WAN and WLAN design and implementation experience.
• CCNA or equivalent networking certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist network capacity planning and assess near- and long-term needs.
• Respond to emergency network outages per continuity plans.
• Create and maintain network configuration and service records.
• Develop and maintain network policies, training, and disaster recovery plans.
• Deploy LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, and switches.
• Monitor performance and troubleshoot network issues; document outcomes.
• Oversee upgrades of equipment and software; mentor junior staff.
• Ensure security solutions and HIPAA/PCI compliance.
