Job summary

Medical College of Wisconsin is seeking a Network Engineer II to maintain and support MCW’s LAN, WAN, VOIP, VPN, Internet and Wireless networks. You will install, upgrade and troubleshoot Cisco systems, handle change requests, and collaborate with service desk and other IT teams to meet operational targets.

The ideal candidate has four or more years in networking, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem solving in a healthcare IT environment.

Qualifications

• Understanding of networking fundamentals across LAN/WAN/Wi‑Fi/VOIP.
• Written and verbal communication, as well as technical writing skills.
• Good analytical skills and ability to raise concerns clearly.
• Positive attitude and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
• Goal-oriented with a strong sense of responsibility.
• At least four years of networking experience.
• Experience with upgrades and installations in Cisco environments.
• Experience with port configurations and basic Cisco troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support MCW LAN, WAN, VOIP, VPN, Internet, and Wireless networks.
• Complete tickets thoroughly and communicate with the service desk.
• Represent the network team with customers and partners; assist leadership with planning.
• Ensure standards for projects and service activities are met.
• Maintain performance, capacity, and operations targets of the MCW network.
• Provide network services including installation, upgrades, basic security administration and troubleshooting for Cisco systems.
• Handle daily network administration and change management requests.
• Contribute to improvements through automation and process optimization.
• Utilize monitoring data to improve network utilization and performance.
