Job summary

ZP Group in Columbia, MD is seeking a Network Engineer I to assist with design, configuration and implementation of enterprise data networks. You will serve as a technical consultant across project teams and deliver networking solutions in a timely manner.

The role requires hands-on experience with Cisco routers/switches, SD-WAN, and network security, with collaboration across architects and operations, and willingness to work outside normal hours when needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, CS, Eng or related field with 1+ year of networking experience, or 3+ years managing large enterprise networks.
• CCNA, CCNP, CCIE or CWNA preferred.
• Strong knowledge of network security technologies (Palo Alto, Cisco Firepower, Cisco ISE).
• Experience with S2S VPN configuration and maintenance.
• Hands-on with Cisco routers/switches (4500/Nexus 9K-2800/2900/4300).
• Advanced routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP).
• Experience with WAN/Internet circuits and inter-data center connectivity.
• Familiarity with SD-WAN solutions (Aruba/Silver Peak preferred).
• Proficient with packet capture tools (Wireshark).
• Strong communication and vendor management skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist planning, design and implementation of large enterprise network solutions.
• Provide tier-3 support and guidance to network operations with a customer-service focus.
• Create and maintain technical design documentation for proposed/implemented solutions.
• Collaborate with Solutions Architects on technology evaluations and vendor selection.
• Support service transition and training for network operations.
• Provide routine support (firewall rules, traffic analysis, routing changes).
• Assist in remediation of major incidents during outages.
• Collaborate on deploying/maintaining SD-WAN (HPE Silver Peak, Cisco Meraki, Zscaler, Cisco ISE).
