Job summary

County of San Mateo's Technology Services Department seeks a Network Engineer - IS Communication Specialist II to design, implement, and maintain the county's enterprise network. You will handle security, routing, switching, WLAN, WAN, VOIP, VPN, and fault isolation while mentoring junior staff and providing project guidance.

The role requires after-hours on-call availability, strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to work across county agencies to deliver reliable network

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in network installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Ability to obtain a California Driver's License.
• Strong knowledge of network protocols and security concepts.
• Experience with enterprise network monitoring and fault isolation.

Responsibilities

• Design, implements, and maintains system infrastructure and solutions.
• Respond to user issues with telecom, wireless, and network systems and document resolutions.
• Install, configure, and test new systems and upgrades.
• Maintain network policies and procedures and update documentation.
