Job description

Network Engineer

Location: Remote but must reside in the Richmond, VA area

Citizenship & Clearance: US Citizenship is required per government contract. Must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance.

This is an E-commerce position requiring a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Candidates must have strong network administration experience and be capable of leading, implementing, and supporting specialized business and technical IT solutions. Willingness to work off-hours, weekends, and on-call is necessary.

Technical Skills and Product Knowledge Requirements

1. General maintenance, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for network incidents.
2. Resolve all network issues assigned to the network team.
3. Drive problem resolutions to ensure business continuity.
4. Participate in daytime and evening shift rotations, including on-call weekends and after-hours support.
5. Improve quality and ensure timely resolution of incidents.
6. Implement steps to prevent future incidents.
7. Audit network devices to meet or exceed audit standards for network policies and guidelines.
8. Perform change management on all network devices, implementing change requests per CM processes.
9. Install, upgrade, and maintain network components.
10. Document processes in accordance with ITIL requirements.

Qualifications and Responsibilities

• Extensive experience with administering and upgrading F5 LTM load balancers.
• Extensive experience with Checkpoint and Juniper firewalls.
• Extensive experience with Cisco IOS routers, switches, and Nexus OS.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for desktops, servers, networks, and firewalls.
• Advanced knowledge of protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, HSRP, VLAN, and TCP/IP.
• Attention to detail and excellent customer service skills.
• Professional attitude with the ability to work independently.
• Proven ability to produce detailed written documentation.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work remotely with matrixed teams and collaborate effectively with clients.
• Qualified candidates have either a Bachelor's degree in a related field or at least 10 years of relevant experience.
