Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Seattle seeks a Network Development Engineer II to architect the inter-networking for the cloud platform.

You will configure and troubleshoot traffic engineering, routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers to support large-scale operations. The role requires a degree in CS/engineering or equivalent plus hands-on IP networking experience with BGP/OSPF and related technologies, and scripting in Python or PERL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Three years of experience in the job offered or related occupation can substitute for the degree.
• Must have one year of experience with IP networking fundamentals and protocols, including VLANs/STP, IPv4/IPv6, TCP internals, BGP, OSPF, HSRP/GLBP, PIMv2, IGMP, LDP, TACACS, VPNs, MPLS, DNS, and HTTP.
• Experience with Python or PERL scripting.
• Ability to document and coordinate deployment of manual and automated tests for complex systems.

Responsibilities

• Architect inter-networking and architecture of our cloud computing platform.
• Configure and troubleshoot network traffic engineering using BGP/OSPF and large-scale operations.
• Configure routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers and upgrade software.
• Mentor junior engineers and write design/acceptance documentation.
