Network Deployment Engineer I, Amazon Dedicated Cloud

Amazon Web Services (AWS) seeks a Network Infrastructure Engineer to build Amazon Dedicated Cloud regions. Engineers will scale network systems across data center locations, manage capacity, and support day‑to‑day operations. The role requires collaboration with internal customers and external vendors, as directed by Technical Program Managers.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Communicate project status and blockers to leadership and project management.
  • Perform device build and cabling validation activities.
  • Manage cabling vendor activities and perform quality assurance.
  • Support Network Engineering deployment activities during scheduled change management windows; assist in migration, configuration, and rollout of up‑to‑date hardware.
  • Complete customer requests via Remedy trouble ticketing system.
  • Diagnose networking, routing, and inter‑connectivity issues, including network device configuration and low‑level application interaction.
  • Deliver sustainable, repeatable solutions and processes.
  • Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflow; collaborate with stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
  • Travel within the geographic work area; up to 40% travel, possibly including international travel.
A Day in the Life

The engineer attends meetings, coordinates change management activities in the data center, deploys hardware, connects cabling, troubleshoots links, updates tickets, and works with peers across AWS to innovate and improve.

Basic Qualifications
  • 1+ year of network cabling, fiber optics, and test equipment experience (VFL, power meter, OTDR).
  • Experience with networking fundamentals.
  • US government security clearance of TOP SECRET or higher, or 3+ years of security, compliance, and risk management experience.
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.
  • General comprehension of data center infrastructure components.
  • 3+ years of mid‑level and/or enterprise experience as a technician or engineer, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals (BGP, OSPF, other routing and switching technologies).
  • 2+ years of network cabling, fiber optics, and test equipment experience.
  • CCNA or equivalent level networking certification.
  • Knowledge of data center infrastructure design, operations, or delivery.

Salary and Benefits

Salary Range: 96,000.00 - 166,300.00 USD annually (USA, VA, Culpeper).
