Job summary

The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) in Washington, DC, is seeking an IT Specialist (Network) to plan, develop, and administer data systems, LAN/WAN networks, and security measures that keep agency data available and secure. Qualifications

• Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
• BA/BS degree is desirable. Graduate degree in fields such as business or project management is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans and studies current and future telecommunications systems for LAN/WAN; ensures network is up and running; designs, tests, configures, installs and integrates systems for voice, data, and video formats; maintains network security and data standards.
• Develops data structures, data models, data dictionaries, and data warehousing programs; analyzes data requirements; creates data flow diagrams and metadata repositories.
• Writes technical specifications and maintains plans for program development; ensures accessibility and recoverability of databases and data environments.
