Job summary

RIVA Solutions, Inc. seeks an experienced Network and Computer Systems Administrator (Firewall Engineer) to install, configure, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise network and security infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco ISE, wireless networks, F5 load balancers, Splunk or SIEM, and endpoint-management tools, collaborating with cybersecurity and IT teams to keep services secure and resilient.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in IT or related field.
• Four years of network or systems administration experience, including firewall and security tech experience.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise network and security infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, administer, and maintain LAN, WAN, internet, wireless, and enterprise network-security infrastructure.
• Administer and support Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including security policies, upgrades, configuration changes, and logging.
• Support Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) for network access control, authentication, authorization, and endpoint visibility.
• Configure and troubleshoot enterprise Wi-Fi networks, wireless controllers, access points, and wireless-security standards.
• Administer and support F5 Networks load balancers and related application-delivery services.
• Monitor network availability, capacity, performance, and security events; identify abnormal behavior and service degradation.
• Troubleshoot network outages, firewall issues, wireless connectivity problems, access-control failures, VPN issues, and performance problems.
• Review network and security logs using Splunk and other SIEM tools to support incident analysis and operational monitoring.
• Support Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) activities, including vulnerability remediation and configuration‑compliance efforts.
• Support mobile-device and endpoint management using VMware AirWatch and Microsoft Intune.
• Perform network-device maintenance, patching, software upgrades, configuration changes, and lifecycle support.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, standard operating procedures, configuration records, and implementation plans.
• Coordinate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, application, and service‑management teams to resolve incidents and implement approved changes.

Position Overview

RIVA Solutions is seeking an experienced Network and Computer Systems Administrator (Firewall Engineer) to install, configure, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise network and security infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings hands‑on expertise with Palo Alto Networks firewalls, Cisco Identity Services Engine, enterprise wireless technologies, F5 Networks load balancing, Splunk or comparable SIEM platforms, and endpoint‑management tools. This role works closely with cybersecurity, infrastructure, application, and service‑management teams to maintain secure access, resolve incidents, implement approved changes, and improve network performance and resilience.

Core Responsibilities

• Install, configure, administer, and maintain LAN, WAN, internet, wireless, and enterprise network‑security infrastructure.
• Administer and support Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including security policies, rules, upgrades, configuration changes, and logging.
• Support Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) for network access control, authentication, authorization, and endpoint visibility.
• Configure and troubleshoot enterprise Wi‑Fi networks, wireless controllers, access points, and wireless‑security standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Four (4) years of relevant network or systems administration experience, including at least two (2) years of hands‑on experience supporting enterprise firewalls, network access control, wireless networks, or related network‑security technologies.
• Experience administering and supporting enterprise network and security infrastructure.
• Hands‑on experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls.
• Experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) and network access control technologies and processes.
• Experience supporting enterprise wireless networks, wireless controllers, access points, and applicable wireless‑network standards.
• Experience with F5 Networks load‑balancing and application‑delivery technologies.
• Experience using Splunk or another SIEM platform for security and operational monitoring.
• Experience supporting continuous diagnostics and mitigation, vulnerability remediation, or configuration‑compliance activities.
• Experience with VMware AirWatch and Microsoft Intune for endpoint or mobile‑device management.
• Knowledge of LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, access‑control lists, and network‑security principles.
• Experience monitoring, troubleshooting, maintaining, patching, and upgrading network devices and services.
• Ability to develop clear technical documentation and communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Public Trust background investigation or designation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting Federal Government networks or other regulated enterprise environments.
• Experience with Palo Alto Panorama for centralized firewall management.
• Experience with Cisco wireless controllers, routers, and switches.
• Experience supporting vulnerability remediation, security hardening, and compliance activities.
• Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, CompTIA, Splunk, F5, Microsoft, or VMware certifications.

The salary or salary range for this role reflects an estimated range informed by multiple compensation factors. Final offers may vary based on considerations such as relevant experience, education and training, critical skillsets, and overall business needs.

$85,000 - $95,000 USD
