Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Network Analyst to support on-site network communications across campus. The role emphasizes wireless surveys, design, and hands-on maintenance with on-call readiness and limited travel for training.

Preferred candidates have an associate degree and CCNA/CCT credentials, with practical experience in network operations and basic TCP/IP concepts. Flexibility for occasional remote work is available within a predominantly on-site setting.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen, resident, or officially recognized asylee; candidate will be subject to a government security investigation.
• Associate degree and basic network certifications (CCT, CCNA) or equivalent work experience.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, Routing and LAN switching).
• 1+ years of experience with network operations or desktop support.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design and conduct wireless surveys and designs; operate and maintain wireless network components for UT Austin.
• Maintain network asset information, equipment sparing process, and lab organization.
• Provide semi-skilled field support to install, troubleshoot, and maintain the university’s network and voice systems.
• Provide basic support for standard network design, troubleshooting, and after-hours event support; drive university vehicles as required.
• Maintain relationships with ET and unit representatives to address needs and troubleshoot systems.
• Provide feedback on new network technologies, proofs of concept, and configuration automation.
• Raise visibility of issues to network engineers regarding automation, fault detection, and lifecycle management.
• Perform other related functions as assigned.
