Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking an Enterprise Network Engineer I to design, deploy, and operate the university's enterprise networks. You will provide advanced technical expertise, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with Stakeholders to ensure reliable connectivity for classrooms, labs, and venues.

Role involves 40 hours weekly, with up to 3 days in the office in the Austin metro area; flexibility for in-person collaboration and travel limited to training conferences.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen, resident, or asylee eligible for access to classified information.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Two years of experience supporting enterprise or campus networks (routing, switching, wireless).
• Experience troubleshooting network faults and providing customer-facing technical support.
• Current Class C driver license with driving history review prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, implement, and maintain the university's enterprise network and telecom systems to meet performance objectives and SLAs.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Technology and units to support classrooms, R&D labs, and university venues.
• Evaluate new network technologies, proof-of-concept projects, standardize processes, and automate configurations.
• Provide escalation support and on-call duties; driving university vehicles when required.
• Raise visibility of issues with automation and lifecycle management.
