Job summary

ASM Research is seeking a network professional to build, support, and optimize our network and related systems in the Northern Virginia area. You will troubleshoot and secure LAN/WAN deployments and assist in designing new network deployments.

Able to apply industry standards, manage routine tests, and resolve common network issues, with experience in monitoring tools like SolarWinds and Wireshark.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 1-3 years of experience administering LAN/WAN network environments.
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, and switching fundamentals.
• Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark).
• Candidates must have a current Top Secret clearance and DoD 8140–compliant certification such as Security+.

Responsibilities

• Installs and supports LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems.
• Configures and maintains network infrastructure devices and related hardware/software.
• Monitors network to maintain integrity and security.
• Maintains network facilities including drivers and settings for PCs and printers.
• Maintains network servers such as file servers, VPN gateways, and intrusion detection systems.
• Assists in designing, deploying, and troubleshooting network deployments.
• Conducts routine tests to ensure proper operation and security of network systems.
• Performs network troubleshooting to diagnose common issues.
• Monitors network performance and performs restoration/recovery actions.
