Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. is seeking a Network Administrator to support NIH/CIT network infrastructure for LAN/WAN services in Bethesda, MD. You will help ensure the NIH network remains resilient, secure, and highly available to researchers and staff.

The role requires a bachelor's degree and 3+ years of network administration experience with Cisco gear, TCP/IP, VPN, and log analysis. This on-site position offers full-time hours and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (or high school diploma accompanied with relevant experience and professional certification).
• Minimum three (3) years of network administrator experience.
• Solid understanding of network protocols and switching; TCP/IP, FTP/HTTP(S), UDP, VPN, etc.
• Ability to provide root cause analysis or requirements summaries using basic network terminology.
• Experience troubleshooting network devices such as CISCO routers, switches, APs, UPS, firewalls, etc.
• Configure CISCO switches/routers, NICs, LAN ports and diagnose configuration issues via CLI.
• Create network diagrams and decipher network topologies; read logs/traffic on LAN gear.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and respond to on-call emergencies within the DC-MD-VA area.
• Must be able to obtain an NIH public trust.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate actions to reduce IT burden on NIH researchers and staff.
• Contribute knowledge to NIH and assist other IT pros for better teamwork.
• Collaborate with the CIT team to serve NIH as ONE CIT.
• Ensure network infrastructure, internet and intranet services have maximum uptime.
• Respond quickly and thoroughly to incidents, requests and outages.
