Job summary

General Dynamics - IT is seeking an IT Network Security Team Lead to guide a security engineering team in Bethesda, MD. You will oversee policy enforcement, risk mitigation, and cross-functional coordination to safeguard NLM infrastructure on-site 3–5 days per week.

Responsibilities include architectural design, risk reviews, incident escalation, and alignment with HHS/NID directives. Leadership experience and CISSP are required, with ANACI clearance capability expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum work experience requirements: 10 years (8 with MS; 14 without degree).
• Five years of system administration and seven years of system security administration experience.
• Experience with Cisco/Fortigate (Fortinet), Juniper, and Palo Alto security platforms.
• Proficiency with network tools such as Nmap, Wireshark, and tcpdump.
• Strong networking knowledge (TCP/UDP, OSI, VLANs, routing).
• Excellent communication, documentation, and leadership skills.
• Experience leading a team of 3–5 network security engineers.
• CISSP certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
• Ability to obtain Level 2 Secret (ANACI) clearance.
• Familiarity with SIEM, proxy, and URL filtering systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design and integration of security products into the enterprise network.
• Identify and mitigate significant cybersecurity risks, trends, and vulnerabilities.
• Oversee development and implementation of security strategies, policies, and enforcement.
• Review new systems, networks, and software designs for security risks and integration issues.
• Coordinate protection efforts in compliance with HHS and NIH directives.
• Supervise and mentor a team of IT security specialists and contractors.
• Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timely delivery of security initiatives.
• Serve as escalation point for complex security incidents and technical challenges.
• Coordinate with Incident Response Team on investigations of security violations.
• Coordinate with HHS CSIRC, OIG, and law enforcement as needed.
• Remediate actions tracking and follow-through.
• Coordinate firewall upgrades and SSL VPN tunnel management with IT operations.
