Job summary

Jsr Associates is seeking an Electrical Field Test Technician (NETA I–IV) to test, commission and maintain electrical power equipment across the upper Midwest. You’ll work on substations, industrial plants, data centers and utilities, ensuring reliability and safety while the lights stay on.

We offer a union scale pay of $41–$60.20/hr DOE, travel 50–75%, relocation available, and opportunities to advance from Level I to IV toward NETA certification, with comprehensive benefits and overtime pay.

Qualifications

• NETA certification at any level or equivalent electrical testing experience.
• Hands-on power factor testing experience preferred.
• Able to read schematics and test procedures.
• Willingness to travel 50–75% with a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Test, inspect and maintain medium- and high-voltage switchgear and equipment.
• Run high-voltage test equipment including power factor and hipot tests.
• Commission new installations and verify readiness to energize.
• Support planned outages and respond to emergencies.
• Document results clearly and follow NFPA 70E safety practices.
• Lead jobsites at Level III–IV and mentor apprentices when assigned.

What you'll do

• Test, inspect and maintain medium- and high-voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, relays and cable.
• Run high-voltage test equipment, including power factor (Doble or equivalent), insulation resistance, contact resistance, TTR and hipot test sets.
• Commission new installations and verify equipment is ready to energize.
• Support planned outages and respond to emergency calls when customers need help fast.
• Document test results clearly and accurately, and flag issues before they become failures.
• Follow NFPA 70E and site safety practices on every job.
• Level III–IV: Lead jobsites, coordinate with customers, and mentor apprentices and junior techs.

What you bring

• NETA certification at any level (I–IV), or relevant electrical testing or maintenance experience and a commitment to getting certified.
• Hands-on experience with power factor or High Voltage testing strongly preferred.
• Comfort reading one-lines, schematics and test procedures.
• Willingness to travel 50–75% across the upper Midwest.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• A safety-first mindset and the ability to work independently or as part of a crew.

Bonus points for:

substation or utility experience, protective relay testing, commissioning experience on large projects, or prior military electrical/ET background.
