Job Title: NETA Field Service Technician at Shermco Industries

Join us to apply for the NETA Field Service Technician role at Shermco Industries.

Overview

The Field Service Technician - Electrical Testing is responsible for performing electrical testing, maintenance, and repair services on electrical distribution systems and equipment. The technician will collaborate with a team to ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to high standards.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites (industrial & commercial) to inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up, and collect data on electrical systems from 480 Volt to 600 kV.
• Conduct instrument transformer tests, power transformer testing (Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance), relay testing, cable testing (Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot), and troubleshoot automatic transfer switches.
• Test low, medium, and high voltage switchgear and circuit breakers, perform relay calibration, and power metering.
• Rotate emergency on-call duties and respond promptly to customer emergencies.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to drive locally/regionally and willingness for periodic overnight travel.
• Associate’s degree in Electrical Power & Controls or EE Degree from an ABET-accredited college, or relevant military training (Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, NAVY Seabee).
• NETA Certification (I-IV) or similar preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience in switchgear testing & troubleshooting.
• Good PC skills; experience with PowerDB is a plus.
• Commitment to electrical safety procedures.

Other Requirements:

• Pass a pre-employment hair follicle drug test and periodic random tests.
• Acceptable criminal background check.
• Physical ability to crawl, climb, stand, walk, lift up to 75 lbs., and pass a physical exam.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, weekends, holidays, and nights.
• Willing to travel at least 40% and not require sponsorship in the U.S.
• Fluent in English reading, writing, and speaking.

Pay Range: USD $31.78 - USD $47.64 per hour.
