Description

Are you a hands-on problem solver who loves to travel and provide exceptional customer service? IPS is seeking a dynamic Field Service Technician to join our team. In this role, no day will be the same. You'll troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment while delivering top-notch service to our customers. You'll work alongside some of the best technicians in the industry, utilizing the latest technology tools and equipment. Responsibilities & Expectations:
  1. Inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up, and collect data of low, medium, and high voltage (to 500kV) electrical systems, and moderately complex relay calibration and power metering.
  2. Instrument transformer tests
  3. Power transformer testing - Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.
  4. Test both electro-mechanical and solid state relays
  5. Cable testing - Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot
  6. Automatic transfer switch troubleshooting
  7. Low, Medium, and High voltage switchgear and circuit breaker testing
  8. Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner
  9. Maintain strong verbal and written communication skills
  10. Must have a valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record
  11. Ability to travel locally and overnight
  12. Work flexible hours, overtime, and weekends as required, and be on call
  13. Work safely alone and as part of a team
  14. Closely adhere to all electrical safety procedures
  15. Contribute to a strong team environment by assisting teammates in achieving mutual goals
Qualifications and Competencies:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent required
  2. Associate degree from an accredited 2-year technical college in Electrical Power, or similar experience/training from the military preferred
  3. At least 5 years of relevant experience
  4. NETA Certification (III or IV) highly preferred or equivalent skills/experience to become NETA Certified
  5. Prefer OSHA 30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training
Physical Requirements:
  1. Ability to lift, push, pull, carry items up to 75 lbs.
  2. Must pass a fit for duty physical exam
  3. Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods
  4. Perform manual labor for up to 12+ hours per day
  5. Good hearing and vision
  6. Work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions
