Nerve Conduction Study Technologist, R.NCS.T.

We are seeking a Nerve Conduction Study Technologist (R.NCS.T.) to join our team at MaxHealth! As an R.NCS.T. for MaxHealth, your primary job is to support our neurologist and perform medical assistant day-to-day duties while contributing to a positive, efficient work environment. Medical Assistants are responsible for providing care to clinic patients under the direct supervision of physicians and managers. They will train with Medical Assistants and Managers in various administrative, support, and clinical duties.

The R.NCS.T. will perform noninvasive nerve-conduction studies, gathers accurate test data, and performs any invasive needle EMG testing when needed. This role requires strong customer service and phone skills, EMR proficiency, and hands‑on clinical competency (vitals, injections, specimen collection, and other clinical duties as assigned).

This position is full-time in our Dallas clinic, but will require occasional travel within Texas, specifically to our clinics in Austin, Houston, and San Antonio.

Responsibilities
  • Understands and performs office procedures, after reasonable training. Only performs clinical procedures (i.e., testing, injections) signed off to perform.
  • Assesses patient's general condition, takes vital signs and basic information, and prepares patient for testing.
  • Perform nerve-conduction studies (NCS) under physician supervision, including motor, sensory, and related stimulation/recording procedures.
  • Adjust technical factors—such as electrode placement, stimulation intensity, and skin temperature—so recordings are accurate and reproducible. Recognize and correct common technical issues.
  • Documents of all activities/interventions, test settings & resutls, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, phone calls, etc., in the electronic medical record.
  • Ensures follow-thru on all patient needs that come through the clinical office and communicate with management on any patient issues.
  • Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines, and confidentiality policies.
  • Using a computer for patient charting, test ordering, secure patient communications, and appointment scheduling as needed.
  • Pays attention to detail and keeps work/office/common area(s) clean, orderly, and organized
  • Cleans exam and procedure rooms between patients at end of day, following established cleaning protocols and in accordance with OSHA guidelines for safety.
  • Assists in re-stocking supplies in exam and procedure rooms and helps monitor supplies levels using inventory tracking and other systems.
  • Packages and sterilizes surgical equipment, participates in the maintenance and general upkeep of auto-clave sterilizers, endoscopes, procedure equipment, and other materials as necessary, following established protocols.
  • Collects and process urine and blood samples for testing.
  • Able to maintain composure during times of confusion.
  • Maintains a pleasant and courteous manner.
  • Willing to assist with training new personnel.
  • Willing to be cross trained to another position when necessary.
  • Ensures departmental HIPAA Compliance. Communicate with the clinic manager and/or Privacy Officer when necessary.
  • Communicates with clinic manager with back-office equipment issues that arise, causing a delay in data entry and/or work efficiency.
  • Remains engaged and shares ideas to improve patient care, work efficiency, and job satisfaction.
  • Follows Employee Handbook and adheres to the Dress Code.
  • Other duties assigned by clinic manager.
Requirements
  • Current Nerve Conduction Study Technologist (R.NCS.T.) certification.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a neurology clinic or related specialty.
  • Prior front office / patient scheduling experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic nursing principles, clinical protocols, and medical terminology.
  • Computer literate, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, EMR systems, and medical practice management software. Experience in ECW is a plus.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within Texas up to 25% of the time.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Excellent customer service, phone etiquette, and communication skills.
  • A compassionate, patient-first approach and a professional, team-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to maintain composure and sound judgment while moving between administrative and clinical tasks.
  • Compliance with all infection control and safety requirements.
Environmental / Working Conditions
  • In person clinic setting, full time.
  • Frequent travel by car between clinic sites; mileage reimbursed per company policy.
  • Regularly deals with multiple patient cases and potentially stressful, fast-changing situations.
  • Risk of exposure to communicable disease, lab specimens, and air-borne pathogens.
  • Varied physical activity including standing, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, and reaching; must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Must be able to use a variety of office and clinical equipment, including phones, PCs, fax/copier, stethoscope, and other medical equipment.
Conditions of Employment
  • May be required to submit to annual TB and rubella screening and/or other immunizations per OSHA guidelines.
  • Hepatitis and Flu vaccination: candidates may decline via declination form or provide proof of prior vaccination.
  • Follows all company policies and procedures, including safety, infection control, and confidentiality.
  • Subject to a valid driver's license and motor vehicle record check due to multi-site travel requirements.
