Job summary

Mass General Brigham's nephrology program at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, MA seeks a Medical Assistant to support physicians, nurses and care teams with clinical and administrative tasks, ensuring smooth operations in a high-volume practice.

You will welcome patients, take vital signs, collect specimens, assist with procedures, manage phones, coordinate appointments, and help with education and documentation in the electronic health record.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in Medical Assisting preferred.
• 1–2 years of direct Medical Assistant experience or related medical field.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant national certification preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and customer-service skills.
• Ability to obtain vital signs, collect specimens, and use electronic health records.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients, escort to exam rooms, and document vitals.
• Manage heavy phone workload and coordinate appointments.
• Explain procedures, medications, and provider instructions; provide education materials.
• Complete insurance forms and liaise with other departments.
• Assist with phlebotomy and specimen collection when qualified.
• Support quality and safety initiatives and onboarding of junior staff.
