Job summary

Duke Nephrology Clinic in Durham, NC seeks an Advanced Practice Provider to augment a physician’s ability to provide medical services, collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order labs and consultations, and deliver direct patient care. Primary hours are Monday through Friday, day shift, with flexibility to meet patient needs.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Master's degree in Nursing.
• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program; Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• 1+ years of APP experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• See outpatients with chronic kidney disease independently with attending backup.
• Review and interpret labs; communicate results and changes to patient and referring provider.
• Document visits in accordance with organizational policies.
• Order iron infusion and erythropoietin stimulating agent injections as needed in the Clinic 2A infusion center.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist the physician and prescribe necessary treatments.
• Take patient histories, conduct physical exams, write progress notes, and develop therapeutic relationships with patients.
• Explain the necessity and preparation for scheduled diagnostic procedures to patients.
• Assist with training/teaching of new personnel and participate in research efforts as needed.
