Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL seeks a Respiratory Therapist to deliver evidence-based care in a Level IV RNICU. You will manage ventilator protocols, perform assessments, and participate in weaning from mechanical support for the sickest neonates.

Ideal candidates have neonatal RT experience, NBRC-registered, and Alabama licensure eligibility with BLS; ACLS/PALS may be required depending on unit. Educational and PSLF-related benefits are highlighted by the employer.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy.
• RRT NBRC registration and Alabama LRT license/eligibility required.
• BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of employment.
• ACLS and/or PALS may be required depending on unit.

Responsibilities

• Provide therapeutic modalities to treat and prevent respiratory conditions.
• Conduct patient assessments and diagnostic testing and limited physical examinations.
• Follow policies when administering therapies as prescribed by physicians.
• Initiate and monitor invasive and noninvasive ventilation and weaning protocols.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, documentation, and patient education.
• Perform arterial punctures and blood gas analysis sampling.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
