Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham seeks a Respiratory Therapist to join the Level IV RNICU team, delivering evidence-based respiratory care in the region's sickest neonates. The role involves high-frequency ventilation and nitric oxide therapies within a specialized NICU setting.

You will autonomously manage ventilator protocols, assess patients, consult with physicians, and contribute to quality improvement and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy.
• Licensed Respiratory Therapist (LRT) with the Alabama State Board of Respiratory Therapy (ASBRT) required.
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by NBRC, if eligible must obtain within 1 year.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and perform diagnostic testing.
• Follow established policies for prescribed therapies.
• Initiate and monitor invasive and noninvasive ventilation and weaning.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and documentation.
• Perform arterial punctures for blood gas analysis.
• Provide therapies to treat respiratory conditions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
