Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama, seeks a Respiratory Therapist to deliver evidence-based care in our Level IV RNICU, treating some of the sickest neonates in the region.

Responsibilities include ventilator management, arterial blood gas sampling, patient assessments, and adherence to policies. Full-time and part-time PM shifts with a competitive pay range and sign-on option are available.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy.
• Currently registered as an RRT by NBRC or licensed/eligible as LRT by the Alabama Board.
• BLS certification required or to be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• ACLS and/or PALS may be required depending on unit/department.

Responsibilities

• Provide therapeutic modalities to treat and prevent respiratory conditions.
• Conduct patient assessments and diagnostic testing, including ABG sampling.
• Follow hospital policies for administering therapies prescribed by physicians.
• Initiate and monitor invasive and noninvasive ventilation and weaning protocols.
• Participate in quality improvement, patient education, and documentation.
