Job summary

UAB Medicine’s RNICU delivers evidence-based respiratory care to the sickest neonates. As a respiratory therapist, you will oversee ventilator protocols and high-frequency ventilation, while collaborating with physicians to tailor patient care plans.

The neonatal environment requires independent decision-making, advanced therapies, and commitment to high-quality outcomes in a leading academic health system.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy; education cannot be substituted by experience.
• LRT license with the Alabama State Board of Respiratory Therapy is required.
• NBRC CRT certification, or eligible and must obtain within one year from hire date.
• BCLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and administer therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care and life support.
• Consult with physicians on development and modification of patient care plans.
• Autonomously manage ventilator protocols and wean patients from mechanical support in neonatal care.

Education

Graduate from an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy

Licensed Respiratory Therapist (LRT) by Alabama ASBRT

Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by NBRC, if eligible obtain within 1 year

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
