Job summary

City of Charlotte’s Housing & Neighborhood Services Department seeks a Neighborhood Services Projects Coordinator to manage place-based initiatives that support neighborhood stability, mobility, and revitalization. Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with seven years of relevant work experience, an associate degree with five years of relevant work experience, a bachelor’s degree with three years of relevant work experience, or a master’s degree with one year of relevant work experience, along with knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Three or more years of experience in project or program management, neighborhood revitalization, community development, local government, infrastructure, economic development, or a related field.
• Experience managing or coordinating place-based projects involving multiple stakeholders, public investments, community engagement, contracts, grants, or capital improvements.
• Familiarity with urban design, neighborhood planning, geographic information systems (GIS), data analysis, public-sector procurement, or grant-funded programs is a plus.
• Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the coordination and management of a portfolio of neighborhood-focused projects with scopes, work plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Manage place-based initiatives including neighborhood revitalization, public-realm improvements, placemaking, community facilities, and access to opportunity.
• Build and maintain partnerships with residents, neighborhood and business organizations, community-based organizations, property owners, institutions, private-sector partners, and government agencies.
• Plan and support meaningful community engagement throughout the project lifecycle, including public meetings and stakeholder briefings.
• Monitor project implementation with regular coordination, site visits, progress reviews, and status updates.
• Coordinate procurement, contracting activities, invoices, budgets, and record-keeping in compliance with policies.
• Prepare project reports, presentations, and status updates for leadership and stakeholders.
• Support problem solving by connecting neighborhoods to programs, funding opportunities, and resources.
• Research best practices to guide solutions to neighborhood challenges.
• Participate on interdepartmental teams and committees as assigned.
