Job summary

Academy of Hope Adult PCS in Washington, DC seeks an NEDP Advisor/Assessor to work with the Dean of Student Academic Services across Ward 5 or Ward 8. The role guides adult learners through Diagnostic and Assessment phases, administering instruments, interpreting results, and shaping individualized learning plans.

Collaboration with staff and strong communication are essential. The position requires a Bachelor's in Education-related fields, experience with CCSS for Adults, and familiarity with

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Secondary Education, Adult Education, or a related field required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience with Common Core and/or College and Career Readiness Standards for Adults.
• Experience teaching adults for the GED and/or high school.
• Familiarity with CASAS and Accuplacer.
• Strong cultural competency skills with diverse populations.
• Experience working with adult learners with special needs a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong computer skills.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with Academy of Hope staff to provide a safe, nurturing environment for adult learners.
• Introduces NEDP to prospective applicants and conducts information sessions.
• Administers diagnostic instruments and interprets results.
• Identifies individualized skills and develops learning recommendations.
• Provides CASAS math, essay writing, and assessment phase preparation as needed.
• Serves as a buddy to Assessment learners and facilitates lab time.
• Prepares candidates for modules and conducts in-office interviews.
• Evaluates demonstrations of competencies according to NEDP standards.
• Maintains attendance and progress records per AoH standards and NEDP requirements.
• Attends regular meetings at both sites and remotely.
