Job summary

Charles River Laboratories is seeking a Necropsy Technician I to join our Integrated Toxicology team at the Kansas City site. This role offers hands-on training in animal handling, euthanasia, tissue collection, and data recording within a GLP-compliant environment.

The ITox team bridges discovery and safety assessment to deliver rapid, reliable study results. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED with no prior experience required, plus the ability to work extended hours

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED required; BA/BS in a biological science preferred.
• Experience: No previous experience required.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels inside and outside the organization.
• Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Computer skills to learn a validated system.
• Ability to ensure GLP/SOP/BOP/IACUC compliance.
• Ability to work extended hours and meet time constraints.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without a sponsor visa.

Responsibilities

• Ensure good welfare and humane care for all animals with gentle interactions.
• Perform basic lab prep, animal handling/restraint, sedation, euthanasia, tissue collection and processing.
• Perform basic husbandry and facility tasks as needed.
• Read, understand, and adhere to SOPs and study protocols.
• Collect, document, review, and verify data on forms or electronic systems.
• Develop knowledge of anatomical structures and basic physiology.
• Use and maintain instrumentation and equipment.
• Receive, track, and prepare samples or materials for studies.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned.
