Job summary

MISTRAS is seeking an NDT Trainee to assist Level II and Level III Technicians with designated NDT activities while gaining practical experience. The trainee will support inspection preparation, documentation, maintenance, inventory management, and production tasks under direct supervision.

The role requires adherence to quality system requirements, controlled documents, safety procedures, and customer requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Self-starter with strong motivation and work ethic.
• Ability to follow precise directions and procedures.
• Ability to adapt to schedule changes including overtime.
• Basic computer skills: word processing, data entry, simple spreadsheets.
• Written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Level II and Level III Technicians with equipment setup as directed.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Assist with documentation and reports for services provided.
• Complete assigned processes to meet schedules and customer requirements.
• Follow company policies and procedures.
• Review work order instructions to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Monitor NDT inventory and submit requisitions.
• Unpack incoming products and assist with packing finished products.
• Prepare and wash parts for NDT Level II inspectors.
• Notify safety personnel of incidents and provide assistance as needed.

Position Summary:

• MISTRAS is seeking an NDT Trainee to assist Level II and Level III Technicians with designated NDT method activities while gaining practical experience and knowledge. The trainee will support inspection preparation, documentation, maintenance, inventory management, and production activities under the direct supervision of a Level II or higher technician.
• The role requires compliance with MISTRAS quality system requirements, controlled documents, work instructions, safety procedures, and customer requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Assist Level II and Level III Technicians with equipment setup as directed and required.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Assist with documentation and reports for services provided.
• Complete assigned processes in a timely manner to meet schedules and customer requirements.
• Follow company policies and procedures.
• Review work order instructions provided by NDT Level III personnel to ensure processing is completed according to applicable specifications.
• Monitor NDT inventory required for day-to-day operations and submit timely requisitions to the team lead for ordering.
• Complete work in accordance with controlled documents and work instructions affecting work quality and processes under MISTRAS quality system requirements.
• Comply with applicable flow-down requirements and planning activities.
• Participate in quality systems, safety, process, and quality training as directed.
• Unpack incoming products and assist with packing finished products.
• Prepare and wash parts for NDT Level II inspectors.
• Operate daily production processes only under the direct supervision of a Level II or higher technician.
• Notify appropriate safety management personnel of incidents and provide assistance as needed.
• Perform additional tasks or processes for which the trainee is qualified, as directed by management.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Self-starter with strong motivation and work ethic.
• Ability to perform a wide variety of tasks and respond to short-notice work.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
• Proven ability to follow precise directions and procedures.
• Ability to adapt to schedule changes based on workflow, including overtime or schedule changes when required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet customer needs.
• Basic computer skills, including word processing, data entry, and simple spreadsheets.
• Written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to pass both vision and color examinations.

Requirements:

• Ability to work in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels.
• Ability to wear safety equipment required by the safety department for personal protection.
• Ability to frequently lift and carry 20–50 pounds.
• Ability to work with water under changing temperature conditions.
• Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, to communicate effectively.
• Compensation
• Hourly pay range of $18–$22 per hour.
