Job summary

Figeac Aero North America in Wichita, KS, is seeking an NDT Inspector for the 2nd shift to conduct Liquid Penetrant Testing on aerospace components and interpret results per procedures.

Qualified candidates must have NDT Level II LP certification with 400 hours of LP testing and 18 months manufacturing experience; full-time hours include 2:00pm-10:00pm, with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Must hold NDT Level II in Liquid Penetrant Testing with documented hours.
  • Minimum of 400 hours of LP testing experience and 32 hours classroom training.
  • 18 months of continuous manufacturing experience as Level II LP tester.

Responsibilities

  • Review routers, procedures, specs, drawings for completeness and instructions.
  • Process parts per procedures to evaluate turning up any discontinuities.
  • Set up, calibrate, and verify LP testing equipment and record results.
  • Interpret, evaluate, and report test results and non-conformances.
  • Maintain logs, data sheets, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Provide OJT to Level I/II NDT Inspectors as needed.
  • Maintain safety, quality, and cleanliness in the work area.

Experience: 400 hours of documented Penetrant Testing or On-The-Job Training in NDT; Certifications required.

Job Summary:

Conducts Liquid Penetrant Testing using specific techniques on aerospace products. Uses knowledge of products, manufacturing processes, equipment set-up, and NDT methods to process parts for inspection following specific operating procedures. Interprets and evaluates test results. This position will utilize LP NDT Testing only.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review routers, procedures, specifications, drawings and other instructions for completeness and instructions to perform operation
  • Process part(s) in accordance with procedures and technical instructions to evaluate for machining, cold forming, and/or casting discontinuities exceeding requirements specified
  • Set-up, operate, calibrate, and perform Process Control Checks on NDT (Liquid Penetrant Test) equipment by following established instructions and record results
  • Interpret, evaluate, and report evaluation results as required and outlined
  • Fill out required logs and statistical data sheets as required
  • Clean equipment and ensures it is working properly, and clean and maintain work area as needed
  • Maintain required job skills and knowledge of requirements (including procedures, specifications, etc.)
  • Maintain work area, equipment, and all documents/records to be audit ready at all times
  • Provide On-the-Job Training (OJT) to Level I NDT Inspectors, trainees and fellow Level II NDT Inspectors, as needed
  • Performs the above and other assigned duties in a safe, quality focused manner
  • May also be required to complete final inspections in other departments once training is completed.
  • Assist in other departments as needed and directed by department manager.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Currently or previously certified to NDT Level II in Liquid Penetrant Testing.
  • Must have documented hours for Training & Experience Level II Liquid penetrant:
  • Minimum 32 Hrs classroom training & Minimum 400 Hrs experience
  • Minimum 18 months of continuous manufacturing experience as a certified Level II in Liquid Penetrant Testing.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprint and engineering drawings and be able to document non-conformances as required
  • Able to utilize measuring devices including comparators, micrometers, scales, light meters and calipers
  • Demonstrates performance appropriate to an advanced position
  • Successfully pass vision screen
  • Ability to speak, read and write English
  • Must be a US citizen or a current green card holder

Working Conditions:

  • Some overtime may be necessary
  • Ability to regularly and frequently lift 50 pounds
  • Will be exposed to constant activity that requires intermittent standing, bending, crouching, twisting, pushing, pulling, lifting, moving, carrying light and heavy loads, and climbing stairs and ladders. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate small power tools and other equipment
  • The essential duties job may require the ability to stoop; to reach; to stand, and to walk for extended periods of time; to push and/or pull objects weighing up to 30 pounds; to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; to use finger dexterity to operate a computer and other office equipment and hand strength to grasp files and other objects; to perceive the attributes of objects by touch; to hear and verbally exchange ideas and information with the public, staff and others in the office. Frequently being on foot, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, climb stairs and kneeling and/or crouch to retrieve items. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate small power tools and other equipment. Writing to complete reports and service requests. Occasionally Lifting and carrying (with assistance) items weighing 75-150 lbs.
  • Must be able to wear safety PPE equipment, as required. Noise levels may require hearing protection.
