Job summary

Valley Children’s Healthcare in California seeks a Newborn Screening (NBS) Follow-Up Specialist to coordinate care for both positive and non-positive NBS cases. Under the ASC Director, you will provide consultation to hospital NBS providers and birth attendants, and lead NBS educational programs for hospitals, birth attendants, health professionals and parent groups.

You will document case follow-up in the SIS and manage NBS cases to ensure timely access to required specialty care.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in related field with two years clinical or NBS experience.
  • Nursing with California RN license and two years pediatric or related experience.
  • Licensed Health Professional with two years clinical or state NBS experience.

Responsibilities

  • Follow up and coordinate care for positive and non-positive NBS cases.
  • Provide consultation/technical assistance to hospital NBS providers and birth attendants.
  • Deliver NBS educational programs to hospitals, birth attendants, health professionals and parents.
  • Document follow up and manage SIS cases; perform other NBS duties per SOW.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Newborn Screening (NBS) ASC Director, provides follow up and coordinates care for both positive and non-positive Newborn Screening cases. Provides consultation/technical assistance to hospital NBS providers and birth attendants to ensure program compliance through appropriate NBS policies/procedures and interpretation/implementation of state regulations. Provides NBS educational programs for hospitals, birth attendants, health care professionals, community agencies and parent groups. Manages NBS confirmed positive cases to ensure that affected babies receive required specialty care. Documents case follow up and resolves cases appropriately in the Screening Information System (SIS). Job incumbents may be asked to perform other NBS duties consistent with the Newborn Screening Program Scope of Work (SOW), as permitted within their professional scope of practice.

Qualifications
  • Education Masters Degree In related field and two years clinical or NBS experience. (required)
  • Or College Degree - 4 year Nursing with a current California Registered Nurse licensure (RN) and two year of pediatric, maternal/child health, neonatal, or public health experience. (required)
  • Or College Degree - 4 year Licensed Health Professional with two years of clinical experience or in a state newborn screening program (required)
  • Licenses and Certifications RN - Registered Nurse License - CA-BRN - California Board of Registered Nursing (required)
  • Or Other - Other Licensed Health Professional: RD, CGC, LCSW (required)

Compensation & Work Details

Compensation Range: $57.29 - $81.72 Workshift: Day (United States of America) Position Exempt: No FTE %: 100 Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Daily Hours: 8
