Job summary

Johnson Controls Navy Systems seeks a Welder/Fitter for the 2nd shift at our York, PA facility. The role involves welding complex piping and pressure vessel assemblies to Navy standards, using SMAW/FCAW/GTAW, and reading isometric drawings and code specs to fabricate from prints.

You will operate on floors, platforms or tables, perform lay-outs, brazing, and welding in all positions, while maintaining safety and a tidy work area. Must be a U.S. citizen for federal contracts.

Qualifications

• Navy code standard 2" diameter pipe test with backing ring in 6G position using E7018 filler material.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3+ years welding experience with SMAW, FCAW, GTAW in all positions.
• Able to read prints, sketches, and operation sheets.
• Capable of lifting heavy materials and working in strenuous positions.
• U.S. citizenship required for government contract.

Responsibilities

• Read isometric drawings and welding symbols and code specs.
• Weld in all positions on pressure vessels and subassemblies.
• Lay out from center lines or create own layouts.
• Prepare material for welding by cleaning and grinding.
• Weld parts per drawings and connect internal/external components.
• Clean and dress welds to Navy standards.
• Repair welding on defective materials.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area.
