Job summary

Landshark Recruiting is seeking a Test and Integration Engineer for Navy Submarine Systems in Manassas, VA. You will bridge the engineering team and Navy customers, navigating forms, approvals, and contacts to keep code focused on testing and integration.

You will coordinate lab tests, confirm acceptance criteria, and turn customer requirements into actionable guidance for engineers. A Navy background and active security clearance are highly valued for this role.

Qualifications

• Experience working in or alongside DoD programs (program office, defense lab, ship, or submarine).
• Able to discuss technical topics with software engineers; no coding required.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to brief a room and write effective emails.
• Organized and relentless about follow-through.
• Comfortable entering unfamiliar organizations and building relationships quickly.
• Active Secret clearance required; TS/SCI a strong plus.
• Navy submarine sonar, fire control, or C4ISR experience or equivalent officer designators.
• Familiarity with the ARCI lab environment or submarine C4ISR integration (AN/BYG-1).
• Experience with NUWC Newport, NAVSEA, or PEO IWS.
• Exposure to message bus architectures (Kafka, Redpanda) or Rust, C, or Protocol Buffers.

Responsibilities

• Work through customer bureaucracy so engineers can stay focused on code by tracking forms, approval chains, and points of contact.
• Own test coordination: schedule lab time, stand up environments, and verify software against acceptance criteria.
• Translate customer requirements into clear, actionable guidance for the engineering team (performance, interfaces, constraints).
• Build and maintain a map of stakeholders and escalation paths within the customer organization.
• Represent the company at integration events, demos, and working groups with credibility.
• Identify blockers and risks early and bring solutions before they become program-level issues.
• Document decisions, outcomes, and open items in real time to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
