Job summary

Serco Inc. seeks an engineer to support Team Submarine's Submarine COLUMBIA Class Program Office in Reston, VA.

The role focuses on fluid systems engineering, programmatic issue resolution, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to advance submarine programs for the US Navy. The successful candidate will hold a technical degree, pursue DoW Secret clearance, and demonstrate strong communication, time management, and multitasking abilities.

Qualifications

• Must have DoW Secret security clearance (ability to obtain).
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical or related field.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
• Time management skills.
• Proven excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask effectively.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office packages effectively.
• Ability to be flexible both in relation to job-specification and schedules.
• Ability to travel 25%.
• Ability to solve problems.
• Additional experience: Navy acquisition and/or in-service programs; Active‑Duty submarine service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering and fluid systems engineering support to the program office.
• Recommend course of action(s) for unexpected technical and programmatic issues related to RDT&E.
• Set high personal standards for performance and conduct.
• Demonstrate ability to be a team player; works well with others; contributes positively to work/team environment while continually seeking ways to enhance contribution to the team.
• Rely on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Perform a variety of tasks under general supervision.
