Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Engineering Designer/Drafter to support the development, modification, and configuration control of mechanical hardware for Navy facilities. You will translate engineering intent into accurate 3D Inventor models, drawings, BOMs, and controlled design data, collaborating with engineers, drafters, vendors, and field personnel across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a related technical discipline required.
• 5+ years of hands-on CAD experience using Autodesk Inventor.
• Ability to interpret sketches, redlines, field measurements, and vendor drawings.
• Working knowledge of GD&T and ASME Y14.5 standards.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop fully parametric 3D Inventor models, assemblies, and components from sketches, measurements, legacy drawings, and design direction.
• Create 2D engineering drawings from 3D models using Inventor and AutoCAD, including BOMs and revision control.
• Support PLM data management, CAD data control, and lifecycle documentation.
• Assist with fabrication, installation, field support, and design reviews.
• Travel up to 25% to customer sites, vendors, and test locations.
