Job summary

MIKEL is seeking a BYG-1 ILS Technical Writer to provide SME support for BYG-1 modernization and IETM/RRM content. The SME will serve as the system expert for source development of BYG-1 content and maintenance.

The role requires former US Navy Fire Control Technician, E-5 or above, understanding of submarine operations, IETMs, and S1000D standards, with a active DoD secret clearance. Naval facility experience and collaboration across technical teams are essential.

Qualifications

• Former US Navy Fire Control Technician, E-5 or above
• Experience with IETMs and BYG-1 content
• Clear understanding of S1000D standards and processes
• Active DoD security clearance

Responsibilities

• Write, edit, and manage technical documentation
• Coordinate with engineering, systems integration, and PM teams to gather data
• Review data and drawings to update manuals
• Resolve discrepancies and ensure content completeness
• Provide feedback on content structure and accuracy
• Create TMDERs and incorporate them into manuals
• Monitor and support key delivery milestones
