Job summary

Serco Inc. in Chesapeake, VA is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician to support U.S. Navy ships on-board. You will perform complex assignments, plan and conduct projects of limited scope, and collaborate with Serco and customer teams to deliver high-quality results.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, 8+ years of shipyard experience, and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance. The role requires onsite work and occasional travel, with emphasis on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in a shipyard environment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship is required).
• Familiarity with NAVSEA concepts, practices, and procedures within electronics repair, fabrication, and installation.
• The ability to work more than 40 hours per week and travel up to 25%.
• The ability to work onsite in Chesapeake, VA and in hot shipyard environments.
• Mil-Spec multipin and fiber optic connector certification is desired.

Responsibilities

• Select and adapt plans, techniques, designs, or layouts.
• Coordinate with related personnel to resolve problems and coordinate the work.
• Review, analyze, and integrate the technical work of others.
• Outline objective, requirement, and design approaches for completed work.
• May train and be assisted by lower-level technicians.
• Design, develop, and construct major units, devices, or equipment.
• Conduct tests or experiments; analyze results and recommend improvements.
• Develop designs from guidelines and specifications to meet challenging requirements.
• Analyze technical data and prepare layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, procedures.
