Job summary

Serco is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician to join our team supporting U.S. Navy ships. You will work on-board U.S. Naval Ships and military installations in Chesapeake, VA, delivering complex engineering tasks with close customer collaboration.

The role requires 8+ years in a shipyard environment, ability to obtain a Secret clearance, and willingness to work extended hours with travel up to 25%. MIL-SPEC and fiber optic certifications are a plus. Veterans encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years of shipyard experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
• Familiarity with NAVSEA concepts and electronics repair, fabrication, and installation.
• Ability to work over 40 hours per week and travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Perform non-routine and complex assignments on-board U.S. Naval Ships and military installations.
• Plan and conduct complete projects or portions with technical adequacy.
• Select and adapt plans, techniques, designs, or layouts.
• Coordinate with related personnel to resolve problems.
• Review, analyze, and integrate others’ technical work.
• Outline objectives, requirements and design approaches; ensure compliance.
• May train and be assisted by lower-level technicians.
• Design, develop, and construct major units or equipment.
• Conduct tests or experiments and analyze results.
• Develop designs from guidelines; prepare specifications and parts lists.
• Plan tests, determine requirements, and evaluate performance.
