Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. is seeking a design-focused engineer to develop major components and support manufacturing operations for Navy ship systems. You will create layouts, assess material availability, and ensure specifications and calculations meet contract requirements.

In this role you will also serve as a liaison between the yard and Weight Control, assisting in estimating and tracking weight throughout the design process to keep within set limits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with 0 years of experience.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and ShipConstructor preferred.
• BS in Mathematics and basic Excel/Word skills and blueprint reading preferred.

Responsibilities

• Designs major components or portions of a functional system and supports manufacturing operations.
• Acts as liaison between design and Weight Control during ship development and weight management.
