Job summary

Ingalls Shipbuilding seeks a design engineer to shape major components of naval systems at our Pascagoula, MS facility. You will develop layouts, data, and sketches for design proposals while considering manufacturability, materials availability, interchangeability, strength, and cost.

Responsibilities include coordinating with cross-functional teams, producing complex assembly layouts, and validating drawings for clarity and standards compliance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma with 9 years of experience or higher degrees with corresponding experience.
• Candidates may hold an Associate/Bachelor/Master/PhD with progressive design responsibilities.
• Proven ability to develop layouts, sketches, and data for design proposals.

Responsibilities

• Designs major components or portions of functional systems to develop or improve products.
• Develops data, layouts, sketches and notes for design proposals.
• Investigates factors like manufacturability, materials, cost and specifications.
• Coordinates with other organizations during design development.
• Creates layouts of complex assemblies and checks drawings for clarity and accuracy.
• Identifies design issues and recommends revisions to engineers.
