Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a production scheduler to plan, prepare and control schedules for complex naval shipbuilding programs. You will coordinate with material requirements to ensure timely flow of approved materials and keep management informed about work in progress, material availability and potential production problems.

The role requires a relevant degree with years of experience, plus familiarity with scheduling techniques and cross‑department coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with 3 years of exempt experience or Master’s degree with 1 year of exempt experience.
• Alternative: 2-year degree + 2 years of exempt experience or 4 years of non-exempt experience.
• Military background (E-5+) or related manufacturing/shipbuilding experience may be considered.
• Exposure to networking/scheduling principles is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules.
• Coordinates material requirements to ensure timely flow of approved materials.
• Advises management on status of work in progress and potential production problems.
• Schedules equipment and personnel; handles work orders and purchase requests.
