Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, is seeking a Production Scheduler to plan, prepare, issue and control production schedules, coordinating material requirements to ensure a smooth flow of parts and assemblies needed to meet production requirements.

The role requires a Bachelor's Degree with 3 years of exempt experience or a Master’s Degree with 1 year of exempt experience, with multiple equivalent pathways outlined for meeting minimum qualifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant exempt experience or Master’s Degree and 1 year of relevant professional experience
• NNS Apprentice School graduate may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree
• Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree
• Associate's Degree or other 2 year program plus 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
• Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
• High School/GED with 4 years combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience or other relevant exempt experience
• High School/GED with 8 years combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience

Responsibilities

• Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules to meet production requirements.
• Advises management on status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems.
• Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, and prepares work orders or purchase requests.
• Coordinates interdepartmental activity to ensure timely movement of parts and materials.
