Job summary

Noblis, a leading provider of defense and national security solutions, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support NAVSEA/NSWCPD programs. The role involves designing mechanical systems for Navy ships, performing calculations, prototyping, and obsolescence assessments, with on-call part-time hours.

Candidates should have a BS in Mechanical, Marine, or Electrical Engineering, DoD secret clearance, and experience with 2D/3D CAD tools and documentation development. Shipboard experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• US citizen and an active DoD security clearance at SECRET level or the ability to obtain one.
• Experience with equipment design principles.
• Familiarity with 2D/3D engineering design & manufacturing tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor).
• Experience reviewing models and drawings for manufacturability of parts.
• Experience with documentation development including drawings, technical manuals (operation, assembly, troubleshooting, and repair), bill of materials.
• Familiarity with military specifications for technical design.

Responsibilities

• Creating mechanical designs and drawings
• Writing precise calculations
• Creating and testing prototypes for functionality
• Re-engineering products when problems are found and recalculating for the return of products to full functionality
• Preparing reports and documentation for leadership
• Perform obsolescence evaluation and assist with finding replacements
