Job summary

NRDC’s Nature Innovation Hub offers a paid internship in Washington, DC for 10 weeks. You will support development of nature tax and finance legislation, conduct policy papers and literature reviews, and prepare two-page summaries for policymakers.

Hybrid work with onsite presence three days per week; interns collaborate with lawyers, scientists, and policy analysts to gain experience in environmental advocacy and policy development.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled undergraduate student (rising sophomores, juniors, seniors, or recent graduates by May 2027)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently with initiative, proactiveness and creativity
• Research and/or data analysis skills
• Commitment to NRDC’s mission, values, and diversity, equity, and inclusion principles

Responsibilities

• Support ongoing work in the Nature Innovation Hub, including development of nature tax and finance legislation
• Conduct policy papers, economic and policy research literature reviews, and prepare two-page summaries of legislation and issues for policymakers
• Work on oil and gas decoupling and revenue policy development and research, as well as other nature and agriculture policy projects
• Report to the Managing Director of the Nature Innovation Hub
• Work onsite in the Washington, DC office three days per week
