Job description

Job Title: Natural Gas Compressor Mechanic

Job Description:

The Natural Gas Compressor Mechanic is responsible for maintaining gathering system compressor stations. This includes disassembly, reassembly, testing of equipment using manual, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools, and repairing natural gas engine and compressor components. The role involves teamwork for overhauls and rebuilds, daily documentation, and performing maintenance on engines, compressors, separators, and other equipment.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, and structural equipment at natural gas facilities.
  2. Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, especially with oil and gas equipment, and proficiency with mechanical tools and test equipment.
  3. Operate equipment safely and accurately.
  4. Identify and report hazards during disassembly, assembly, and testing.
  5. Perform maintenance on mechanical tooling and equipment.
  6. Lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  7. Overhaul compressors, engines, turbines, motors, and auxiliary equipment.
  8. Train other personnel on equipment operation and maintenance.
  9. Analyze engine/compressor performance and interpret operating reports.
  10. Maintain and document all activities, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
  11. Read technical drawings to ensure proper system functioning.
  12. Participate in safety programs and emergency responses.
  13. Maintain high attendance and performance standards.
  14. Participate in safety initiatives and support client reporting procedures.
  15. Perform cleanup and corrosion control activities as needed.
  16. Work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, and respond to after-hours calls.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Perform all essential duties with a customer-focused approach.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Use computer software, including vendor-specific programs and Microsoft Office.
  • Complete documentation accurately and timely.
  • Respond to after-hours requests on a rotational basis.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical skills.
  • Experience with natural gas compression equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good record.
  • Proficient in English reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Ability to pass drug, background, and driver checks.

Schedule:

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday, with weekends and travel as needed (up to 25%).
