Job summary

Southern Oregon University seeks a Native Nations Liaison to support recruitment, retention, and educational initiatives for Native/Indigenous students. The role guides sovereignty advocacy and collaborates with the President, Dean of Students, and Government Relations.

The incumbent will coordinate program activities, engage Tribes and communities, and participate in university committees to advance Native Nation goals. Travel and background checks are required as part of the role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience in college program coordination and admissions outreach.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to work with diverse communities.

Responsibilities

  • Student activities and programs support to recruit, retain, and graduate Native students.
  • Retention data collection, analysis, and reporting to improve outcomes.
  • Outreach and recruitment collaboration with Admissions to attract Native/Indigenous students.
  • Support for Native Nations relations and advisory groups; travel to tribal meetings as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
