Job summary

The Veterans Benefits Administration in Oakland is seeking a Veterans Claims Examiner to support nationwide accuracy reviews of VA compensation claims. The role centers on conducting Systematic Technical Accuracy Reviews (STAR) and Special Focused Reviews (SFR) to ensure compliance with VBA policies and statutes.

You will gather data, analyze findings, and advise leadership on the national impact of process changes, assisting field stations with policy implementation.

Qualifications

Knowledge of laws, regulations and procedures pertaining to VA claims
Experience reviewing national STAR and Special Focused Reviews
Ability to gather data, analyze findings and make recommendations

Responsibilities

In-depth knowledge of laws, regulations and procedures pertaining to the administration of claims for VA compensation and related benefits
Serves as a reviewer for national STAR and special focus reviews and assists field stations with policy implementation guidance
Gathers relevant data, analyzes it critically, and makes recommendations based on findings using available information resources
Advises leadership on the national or local impact of changes in process, protocol, or legal statues
Acts for supervisor when needed; works full-time, 8:00am-4:30pm; telework eligibility is situational and approval-based
